Merits Scooters and Power Wheelchair CPD Training Recap
Last week, Perth Mobility was delighted to host a fantastic CPD training session in partnership with K Care Healthcare Solutions, presented by Tim Joppich and joined by Ivana Seletkovic.
The session provided valuable insights into the key considerations involved in assessing and matching clients with mobility scooters and power wheelchairs. While the practical demonstrations featured the Merits range, the principles and clinical reasoning discussed are applicable across a broad spectrum of assistive technology solutions. A particular highlight was Tim's presentation on the critical role that motors, batteries, controllers, and correct charging practices play in achieving reliable performance and positive long-term outcomes for users. Understanding these technical factors is essential when prescribing mobility equipment that will consistently meet a client's needs over time.
The session generated plenty of discussion, with attendees asking great questions and taking the opportunity to trial equipment firsthand. Combining the theory with practical demonstrations helped develop a deeper understanding of the assessment and prescription process for these increasingly important mobility solutions.
It was also fantastic to see OTs and industry professionals connect, share experiences, and network over coffee and refreshments.
A sincere thank you to Tim, Ivana, K Care, and everyone who attended and contributed to such an engaging and informative morning. We look forward to hosting more educational events that support better outcomes for mobility equipment users throughout Western Australia.
